Day 1: Akha to Lahu - A Journey through Culture and Nature
Your adventure begins with an 08:30 a.m. departure from town, traveling by vehicle to the trekking area. Start your journey with a scenic trek to the Akha village, where you can immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture. Continue your walk to a picturesque viewpoint before making your way to the Lahu village of Jalah, where a delicious lunch awaits. After lunch, continue trekking to a stunning waterfall, then proceed to the Lahu village of Ya Pou. The people of Ya Pou follow animist rituals, believing that all life has a spiritual force. Here, you will stay overnight, enjoying a traditional local dinner and experiencing the unique way of life in this peaceful village. (L,D)
Day 2: Lahu to Karen - Trekking through Stunning Landscapes
After a hearty breakfast, leave Ya Pou and embark on a three-hour trek through lush forests and the scenic Lahu village of Jator. Enjoy a break for lunch in the area, surrounded by the natural beauty of the landscape. After lunch, continue your journey with an easy trek to another waterfall, where you can relax and refresh while enjoying the cool forest breeze. The adventure continues with a two-hour trek to a Karen house at The Mahout Elephants Camp. Here, you will have the chance to learn about the life of mahouts and their deep connection with elephants, setting the stage for an unforgettable elephant ride the next day. After a delicious dinner, stay overnight at the camp, experiencing the tranquility of life in the heart of the jungle. (B,L,D)
Day 3: Karen Trek - Elephant Adventure & Hot Springs
After breakfast, your elephant adventure begins with a thrilling 1.5-hour ride to the Karen Village of Ruam Mitr, navigating the hilly terrain while taking in the spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The elephant trek offers a truly unique perspective of Northern Thailand’s landscapes, providing a perfect blend of adventure and nature. Following the ride, embark on a long-tail boat journey along the Mae Kok River to a hot spring for a relaxing lunch. Take your time to enjoy the natural hot mineral waters, allowing the serene environment to refresh and rejuvenate you. Afterward, enjoy a peaceful boat ride back to town, reflecting on the memories of a truly exceptional trek through the hills of Chiang Rai.(B,L)
